Principles Of Nutrition Laboratory

Principles of Nutrition Laboratory is one of the indispensables for the trainings in the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics and is used in the compulsory / main courses of the department. There are 13 units in the laboratory. In each unit there is a stove, oven, food preparation area, material cabinet and all the materials used during food preparation. Students enter the lab with white coat and hair cap. Trainings are parallel and complementary to the theoretical courses given previously to the students. During the trainings, our students use fresh ingredients provided every week. Students apply standard tariffs by learning to accurately measure the weight of materials. This way, the students have a better insight into healthy food preparation, cooking and storage methods; physical, chemical and sensory changes that occur during food preparation and their effects on health. After the trainings, the active participation of the students is ensured and the theoretical knowledge is reinforced with the help of effective feedback. Food hygiene training is also provided and applied during the applications.
